Last year, more than 20,000 supporters joined us Thanksgiving morning to make a positive impact on the lives of our most precious neighbors, our seniors and youth. By supporting the Houston Turkey Trot, you will impact more than 192,000 seniors and children that Neighborhood Centers serves each year. The TXU Energy Houston Turkey Trot is now the second largest foot-race in Houston making it among the largest Thanksgiving races in the nation. With your continued support, Neighborhood Centers can draw awareness to the needs of Houston?s seniors and children and transform communities. For Good. * The 10K, 5K and Wheelchair events will begin on Post Oak near Hidalgo. The Kids Race will start on Westheimer in the eastbound lane near the Neiman Marcus parking lot and end on Post Oak next to the Dillard?s garage. Races are staggered by distance, and participants will be corralled at the starting lines based upon pace. As we approach Race Day, we will provide you with a full map of all courses in addition to the Post-Race Area. * You must wear your bib and timing chip to be timed and eligible to receive a participant medal. Kids Run: All participants receive participant medals. * The Houston Turkey Trot is a rain or shine event. However, if weather conditions threaten the safety of participants, the race will be cancelled, and your entry will be considered a donation to Neighborhood Centers Inc. and its Sheltering Arms Senior Services division. * We understand that your dog is an important member of your family, but in order to maintain a level of safety during the race and to comply with race regulations, dogs may not participate in the TXU Energy Houston Turkey Trot. * Rollerblades, Heelies, roller skates, scooters and bicycles are not allowed in the TXU Energy Houston Turkey Trot. .
