"Communications: from Village to One!"
Many businesses believe the potential for a disaster will occur within a year; yet most businesses believe a crisis communication plan is a luxury they cannot afford. Incidents happen to people and organizations, but how you respond before, during, and after the crisis can enhance your reputation and often save your organization or with one misguided statement, although well intended, can ruin your hard earned reputation. We will explore tips, tricks, and traps of having a two-way street of communications between your organization and the community you serve.
Biography
Dr. Denise Chatam Walker serves as the executive responsible for the policy and direction of emergency management, fire safety, safety and security audit and compliance, and administration of a stop the violence against women's program for Lone Star College. Dr. Walker holds a Doctorate of Business Administration, a Master of Science in Engineering Management, Industrial Engineering, a graduate certificate in project management and mediation. Dr. Walker is the author of the books "Cybercrime: Secure IT or Lose IT" (2008), "Crisis Communications and Mass Notification: Planning, Preparedness, and Systems" (2011) and "Call of Pink" (coming early 2014). She is a presenter and facilitator on a broad range of topics and motivational speaker. She is a wife, mother, and grandparent.
