Keep Your Business and Family Safe Online – Topic of Be Tomball Ready April Meeting

Internet security and safety are of growing concern, and with technology changing daily, it leaves many with a sense of helplessness when it comes to online security for both families and businesses.
 
Rus Bel, CEO of The Best Geeks, is giving businesses and the community an opportunity to learn practical ways to stay safe in cyberspace at the next Be Tomball Ready (BTR) meeting on Thursday, April 21.
 
“I’m going to focus on three areas: secrets that will change the way you look at and use the Internet forever, 17 key steps you can take toward protecting your family, and 11 key steps you can take toward protecting your business,” said Bel.
 
BTR meetings are open to the public, and are held from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Tomball Regional Medical Center’s first floor conference room (near the cafeteria). There is no charge to attend, and guests may bring their lunch or purchase it in the cafeteria. The hospital’s address is 605 Holderreith Boulevard in Tomball.
 
BTR is a subcommittee of the Greater Tomball Area Chamber of Commerce and the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC), and is dedicated to helping businesses and individuals prepare for and recover from all kinds of emergencies and disasters. 
 
Previous BTR programs include FBI presentations on human trafficking, cyber-crime, internet security, prevention of identity theft, personal safety, business crime, strategies for reducing online banking risk, Red Cross information, recovery case studies from a business disaster expert, a representative from the Virus Doctor, a panel of computer experts, presentations by the Harris County Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, and representatives from the Tomball Regional Medical Center, Fire Department and Police Department.
