Hello!

My name is Marlo and I work for Plutopia Productions. We will be having a three day festival in May at the Round Top Festival Institute, and we wanted to make sure it was on your calendar. Information is below. If you have any questions, feel free to call me at (713) 819-0789. We are also looking for potential sponsors (companies will get A LOT of attention) and of course anyone who would like to buy tickets. Thanks!

At The Round Top Festival Institute
Center for Performance and Learning
248 Jaster Road, Round Top, TX 78954

At the behest of Round Top Festival Institute, Plutopia Productions will stage a three-day gathering next May 2012 on the subject of FutureMusic. The event will combine full-blown concerts in the Institute’s world famous 1,100 seat Festival Concert Hall, as well as smaller performances, interactive displays and demonstrations on the Plaza and symposia and workshops across the Institute’s 200-acre campus.

The content will embrace new movements in music, the convergence of technologies and experimental music making and performance, the relationship between machine, music, and physicality, augmented instruments, the emerging DIY trend and new creative techniques, transmedia performances, future business models and much more.

The star of Plutopia 2010, Paul D. Miller (DJ Spooky) with the Telos Ensemble, will perform a breathtaking program of ground-breaking remixes, to include his Arctic Rhythms, Steve Reich’s City Life, J.S. Bach’s Goldberg Variations, and Mozart’s Eine Kleine Nachtmusik.

Plutopia FutureMUsic Summit 2012 will also host Belgrade-based Nada Kolundzija, the internationally renowned pianist and performer. Nada will present the multimedia performance JOHN CAGE: Music Circus ?”A House Full Of Music.”? A passionate promoter of contemporary music, Ms. Kolundzija has premiered major piano works of twentieth and twenty first century music, and commissioned and inspired the creation of significant new works by Serbian and international composers. Nada will be accompanied by soprano voice, trombone, percussion, vocal quartet and effects.

We will also have Japanese composer and virtuoso violinist Mari Kimura who will perform her String Theater selection of classical and contemporary works, and premiere a number of her own compositions. Wearing custom-fit sensor gloves, she will implement a new technology that tracks bowing motions, thus creating a revolution musical expression to the works.

Friday night’s show will close with Patrick Flanagan, who serves as the token human in cyborg percussion ensemble Jazari, which fuses African rhythms, algorithmic composition, sound synthesis, and electro-mechanics into beat-driven steamfunk.

On Saturday we will have an After Party on the Institute’s Herzstein Plaza featuring Austin-based experimental electronica artists Bodytronix and improvising/audio-visual maestro David DeMaris aka Dr. Strangevibe.

Over the three days, participants will not only attend performances from these world-leading maestros, but also will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a number of Plutopia FutureMusic symposia which will include topics such as: The Sound of Projectors: (audio-visual narrative as spectacle), Mixology: The Art of Music cocktails, The Creative Loop: From Composition to Production, as well as subjects dealing with the future of the music and entertainment industries.

In addition, participants will be able to involve themselves in an enlightening range of breathtaking, cutting edge, interactive and immersive demonstrations from music tech pioneers – everything from music cloud apps to mash-up studios.

A number of ticket levels are available: 3-day, Saturday, and Friday concert-only or Saturday concert plus after party. Tickets DO NOT include accommodations. Limited affordable accommodations available on the Festival Hill campus, so book early. Other accommodations available in the immediate area at a number of B&Bs, Camping, and RV Parks in the area.

This will be another amazing “sense event” from Plutopia Productions.
